Department of Basic Nursing in the Fourth Military Medical University was founded in 1951 and was ratified as the discipline conferring master's degree in nursing in 2002. Basic Nursing became one of the first-rate courses in the construction of “211 Project” of the university in 2000.
The department has engaged in pre-clinic nursing education and basic nursing research and has achieved many achievements since its founding. At present, it undertakes many teaching tasks mainly for undergraduates and postgraduates. It offers several compulsive courses for nursing students, such as Basic Nursing, Introduction to Nursing and Community Nursing and six elective courses for medical students. The teaching hours per year of the department amount to nearly 1,000. The department has been awarded 5 prizes of educational achievements of the university.
The department mainly focuses its researches on nursing education, emergency nursing, community nursing and health care for the aged. It has undertaken 11 research projects of national, ministerial or provincial levels since 1995. In recent years more than 100 papers on teaching and research work have been published in core or source journals in China and 8 textbooks or monographs have been published.
There are two professors, one associate professor and one lecturer in the department. Two of them have been awarded the silver prize of Exemplary Teacher of the PLA, one of them has been awarded the honorable title of Exemplary Teacher of the General Logistics Department, and one of them has been chosen as an exemplary teacher of the university.
Brief Introduction of Ni Chunping
Ni Chunping, MD, is director and associate professor of Department of Basic Nursing in the FMMU. She is member of Chinese Nursing Association and Community Nursing Branch of Shaanxi Nursing Association. She mainly focuses her researches on nursing education and nursing epidemiology. She has been in charge of or participated in 11 research projects at military, ministerial or provincial levels since 2001. In recent five years she has published 35 papers on teaching and research work in core or source journals in China and 8 textbooks. She has been awarded 3 prizes of the third prize of Science & Technology Advancement of the army, 4 prizes of educational achievements of the university and the honorable title of Exemplary Teacher of the FMMU.
