About the School
Founded in Oct. 2004, the School of Pharmacy is one of the newest schools in the Fourth Military Medical University (FMMU). Through its education, research, and service programs, the School of Pharmacy strives to improve the health and well-being of society by aiding in the discovery, development, and use of medicines. Over the past four years, the School of Pharmacy has built a reputation for cutting-edge research, rigorous programs, and outstanding faculty, staff, and students.
The School of Pharmacy is comprised of eight departments, Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutical analysis, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacognosy, Biopharmaceutics, Pharmacogenomics, and Clinical Pharmacy & Pharmacy Administration. Currently the faculty member is around 100. There are 25 professors and associate professors, 5 senior technicians, 8 academic advisors for Ph.D. students and 7 academic advisors for graduate students. Professor Sheng-yong Zhang is a candidate for academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and won the honor of the “National Teaching Master” of Ministry of Education and “outstanding communist” of General Logistics Department. There are four silver medal winners of Military University Educators, one “Technology Star” of General Logistics Department, and one winner of the honored title of outstanding national worker in technology in our school.
Our unique environment has inspired a number of collaborative centers that provide faculty and students with access to sophisticated equipment and numerous opportunities for interdisciplinary research. The School also supports and conducts research in drug discovery, disposition, pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism, drug-drug interaction, and development, and in pharmaceutical outcomes research to improve decision-making regarding pharmaceutical therapy and policy.
Our research on chiral drug synthesis is at the leading level in China; bioengineering drug development and new traditional Chinese medicine development have gained certain recognition and efficiency; and there is foundation for the study on molecule mechanism of drug action, drug structure-function relationship, targeting prodrugs, traditional Chinese medicine polysaccharides and pharmacokinetics of traditional Chinese medicine complex prescription.
